SP4Ed13 Session 1

Dante Gabriel Rosetti's Pandora in the Public Domain

My name is Ibone, AKA @txiotxio. After teaching for over 20 years to Compulsory Secondary Education students, I currently work at the Office of Innovation and Improvement of the Basque Department of Education trying to help schools and teachers improve their students' results.

My small country (GMT+1 MOOCwise) cannot be found in the UN listing as yet, that is why I chose the UNESCO flag when I registered for SP4Ed13. Where I live, educators seem to be starting to question our methods and wanting to adapt our schools and learning environments to our students' needs. Nevertheless, we don't dare to open the innovation box [1] on the off chance that evil contained in it come out.
  • Are we curious and brave enough?
  • Will we find answers to our questions in this box?
  • Which are the foundations of effective innovation?
  • How can we visualize our future learning scenarios?
  • Will we figure out how to design them?
  • How can we foster learners' responsibility so that they are the PLEwrights? [2]
  • Are we ready to practice what we preach?
I've started this MOOC in the belief that green hope is what remained in the box, that I will have time to deal with the suggested tasks, build a network by meeting at least a few of you, take advantage of your reflections and have something to offer to the community.
